“Introducing an enthusiastic artist with a love for music like no other, Owsley Crowley, a rapper, and writer from Michigan. The independent artist was exposed to all sorts of music when he was a child and gradually began making his own. The music that he produces belongs to the dark hip-hop genre. Owsley began making music professionally in August 2021 and after a couple of months of handwork and devotion, he released his first single in November 2021. Growing up, Owsley was not too fond of the town he was living in and its surroundings. The water was contaminated and dope junkies could be spotted at every corner. Many of the mistakes that the artist made in his life, which he now regrets, were because of this town. He felt that it did nothing, but breed mediocracy. The music that the artist produces, speaks for itself. For him, his music is a way to compete with his feelings of anger, sadness, and pain. It is a way for him to be able to express his emotions to his listeners, allowing them to relate to his feelings. When asked to describe his music in three words the artist went for “dark, sarcastic and cynical.”
As a child, Owsley was exposed to every genre of music there was and he knew that this was something that needed to be done. He wanted to do almost everything related to music whether it was playing an instrument, singing, or doing work behind the music, Owsley was always ready. When it comes to making music, the artist relies on cigarettes and alcohol to allow him to let loose and let it all come out naturally. When Owsley tries to make music while he is sober the result is too rigid and strict, not even close to what he desires. He begins by building up the inspiration and waits till he is ready for it to come out. When he is made to force things, the outcome is not what he wants and dislikes doing so.
One of the things that inspired Owsley toward music was the local shows that he went to. He played in various bands during his life but recently decided that they would like to work as a solo artist. Marylin Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Lil Jon, and the East Side boys were a few of the favorite bands that the artist grew up listening to. The kind of music they made was exactly what Owsley wanted to be able to produce. After seeing that Ghostemane and Suicide boys were doing exactly what he wanted to do, the artist was motivated further. He learned how to write his own lyrics, get beats, mix and master photoshop to help him reach where he is today; ‘A god amongst men.’ Owsley Crowley wants all his fans to know that in the future they can expect the world to burn and be built again in his image. He will be the one to guide everyone to greener pastures because to be successful you have to have control over your life and take over the wheel without depending on anyone else. ”
