“Meet Libba, a female artist with a devotion for music. Libba is a singer and songwriter who was born in San Francisco. Now the artist is working independently and produces music that belongs to the genres of pop, soul and acoustic. Libba began making music four years ago and after a lot of hard work and dedication for two years she released her first single in 2020. Since, she was a child Libba had a lot of music going on in her life. Like many other people, she began at the church’s choir. Later, she developed a passion for musical theatre and found it sounding how so much of a story can be told in just a few minutes and how art and its lyrics and instrumentation can leave you in tears. Upon enter college Libba took music as her major with classical training and was able to discover new genres like jazz and rock. This was something completely different and challenging for her to overcome. Recently, the artist was fortunate enough to attend a song writing camp at Berklee College of Music and discovered a new part of musical journey. Being able to write a song came as a new interest to Libba and she realised that with song writing nobody can tell your story, but you.
In an interview with us, Libba describes her music as a ‘journey’ and being ‘about the song itself.’ Every song of hers tells a story of its own. From the second that the song starts to strum till the last beat on the guitar end, she takes her listeners on a journey. All her music is relatable to her listeners in some way or the other. Every detail emphasis on a certain emotion or feeling that the listeners and connect too. When it comes to the creative process of a song, Libba feels that it varies for each song and there is no rigid process that she follows. Sometimes the artist has a melody in her head and then she must figure out the cord progression on her keyboard and at other times she can be found spilling words on to a page and figuring out the melody later. She describes it as putting the pieces of a puzzle together until they all fit.
Libba’s parents are one of the reasons that she loves music and has decided to pursue it as her career. Her father was an immigrant and used to play Irish tunes throughout the day and night. His music and joy were passed on to Libba and she is thankful for having her parents support throughout her musical journey. There were times when she wanted to quit, but her parents were always there to motivate her and put her back on track. With her father passing away two years ago, Libba now makes music more than ever and does not even think of stopping because she knows that this is where he wanted her to be. There is nothing other than music that Libba takes more seriously. From writing, on promoting new to content to live music events, she is prepared to give it her all. When it comes to her career, she rolls up her sleeves and is ready to give it all her energy! Through her music and she is able develop a connection with so many people and that is what motivates her further.”
