Pretty Late is the stage name of a Pop Rock band comprising five musicians.
Christine Fooks is Lead Vox, Rob Sacchetti and Mike Kneeland play the lead and are responsible for rhythm guitars, Tom Connelly is the Bass guitarist, and Mike Young plays Drums.
Mike kneeland first started singing before his fiancè Christine joined the band. He also plays the role of a primary back up singer and he is the main singer for different songs of the album.
All the players are in their late 20’s and early 30’s ages. All belong from the South shore of Boston. The band produces songs individually and has not yet signed with any record. However, they plan to join a label when feasible. Their music sits for every genre and hence consists of various music themes like Rock and pop, blues, funk/jazz and many more. The band’s motto is to keep the stuff unique and versatile that covers every type of music niche.
The band members are professional plumber(Mike kneeland), Medical case managers, carpenters, wastewater treatment plant manager and full-time father(Mike Young). They all started their music career at different times; however, the use of instruments was started at a very young age for each of them. At 10, Tom played Guitar and trumpet and proceeded to Bass, singing, tuba, and piano composition. Mike started practicing Saxophone at 12, and he even played ukulele and Mandolin. Mike developed an interest in guitar playing in high school at about 15 years, and finally, he started making a mix and match of different compositions. Mike kneeland had a knack of writing short stories and poetry from the age of 10. His this talent helped a lot in compiling the first album. Christine loved singing and would immerse herself in music. From a very young age, she started creating melodies and tunes. She used to participate in choirs in Highschool and also learned piano tunes.
The first song of their band was released on the 20th of April, 2022. If considering on an individual basis, then many of their members have released songs with different projects in the past.
There is a story behind their stage name. They had to perform for the first time, and they were running late for it. Moreover, they had not even decided the name yet. So at that moment and in a hurry and according to the situation, they only came up with the name” Pretty Late.” So they kept this name as a stage name as well.
This band’s music is mostly rock and composed in such a way that it brings meaning to life and becomes a memorable one. To achieve the purpose, attractive and inclusive lyrics are introduced, and matching melodies are composed. This makes their songs different from others. The bands love to write and compose songs and keep the work authentic. The basic aim is to bring value to the songs by introducing lessons and meaningful context so that the listener may experience the uniqueness of the songs. The band tries to avoid common topics that most songs are about.
The creative process of the band changes with each new song. It is always a different thinking style each time they have to come up with a new song. However, mostly they initiate with the instrumental part, like chords pattern, bass line, and guitar riff and then mix and match all the tunes that give inspiring and joyful emotions when listening. This is the starting point of music composition, and afterward, lyrics and melody are formed. The music hence is created in a very smooth and natural way.
The band was started with a few friends in Germantown, Quincy, in 2013. It was a group of school friends that would practice different jamming techniques at different places like basements, night beachside etc. Each has a different inspirational story that led them to join this band. The common trait was that they loved making music. They found this activity as a way to calm and relax from present problems. They, as individuals, have a different likeness to different kinds of music. They all want to keep working on this platform till death. It is just a platform that keeps them together and aids them in expressing their feelings through music. The band hopes and assures about the new upcoming songs that the masses will love. The aim is to keep the audience’s interest by bringing a variety of productions. The objective is to live in people’s hearts, and the medium is melodious songs.
Deceiver
Verse 1 (Christine):
I’m a liar, deceiver, everything between-er
Lord know I really want to change
I’m a crier, believer, swear I’ll never leave her
I’ll stay in hiding all the pain
Pre chorus 1 (Christine):
Seems to me that I’ve just crossed a line
That’s just the place I need to find
Take a look into my eyes
Get a glimpse of what’s inside
Wrap your head around these thoughts of mine
Chorus (Christine):
We can’t save the people that we once knew
I can’t change all that we have been through
I can’t blame, all my faults against you
Cuz then I’d change
All these thoughts I’ve had
Verse 2 (Christine):
I’m a fighter, I need her
But how will I feed her?
Lord knows I can not spare the change.
My desires, defy her, I wish this weight was lighter
A type of hurt that only leaves a stain
Pre chorus (Christine):
Seems to me that I’ve just crossed a line
That’s just the place I need to find
Take a look into my eyes
Get a glimpse of what’s inside
Wrap your head around these thoughts of mine
Chorus (Christine):
We can’t save the people that we once knew
I can’t change all that we have been through
I can’t blame, all my faults against you
Cuz then I’d change
All these thoughts I’ve, all these thoughts I’ve had
Chorus (Christine):
We can’t save the people that we once knew
I can’t change all that we have been through
I can’t blame, all my faults against you
Cuz then I’d change
All these thoughts I’ve, all these thoughts I’ve had
