Raakesh Blokhra, more commonly known as Raakstar, is a singer from New Jersey. He spent his early life and was brought up in Shimla city of India. The singer has not yet signed a deal with any organization but working as an individual singer. His music genre is Indian-themed and in Hindi and Punjabi Languages. Along with singing, he also does the songwriting work himself.
He started his career in writing and producing music in the year 2020, and on 21ST of March 2022, his first song was released. This singer has also taken a stage name, as mentioned before, i.e., Raakstar. His children selected this name. The first part of this name (Raak) is a prefix of his original name, and the word “star” is joined to produce the word, Raakstar.His song’s context revolves around emotional and thought-provoking ideas that originated from daily life encounters. Mainly everyone faces such experiences and stances that one can relate to.
To develop new ways of thinking and unique stuff to add to the composition, he practices guitar playing and takes time alone to think deeply. This activity aids him in creating a piece of music that matches his feelings, and he comes up with lyrics that fully depict his mood and feelings.
Raakesh Blokhra has been practising music from the young age of 13. Writing songs was his habit, but he felt shy when singing a song. So, it was during the times of Lockdown that he found a mentor in India who taught him classical singing. A few hours of practice daily allowed him to study and improve his vocals. This practice made him get command of his vocals, and he gained confidence in singing.The singer has a particular interest in music and has been listening to it throughout his life. He has different experiences and memories attached to various songs. He expresses that a specific song listened to at a particular time brings the same feelings of the past if the song has been listened to again. He believes that music is the best time traveling machine by which one can travel in different times, moods and experiences.
So, he wishes that his songs also bring the same feelings to his listeners and help them get relief from their stresses. He wants his songs to be a good part of people’s lives.
Raakstar believes there is nothing like a bad or good voice but the effort and skills to learn to sing in tune. His music videos on YouTube clearly show the improvements in his singing skills over time. The singer has planned many more songs to launch. He has also been contacted for the playback singing role for Bollywood featured films.
